Southall Café is a new breakfast and lunch concept opening in the former Tobacco Corner at the corner of Poplar and Mendehall in East Memphis. The Kitchen Manager or Chef position oversees all aspects of the kitchen from food preparation to plating and expediting. The position requires both leadership and customer service skills. As well as the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
We are looking for a creative, motivating professional who doesn't mind contributing to prep, plating of food, expediting or even washing dishes if necessary. But, who also the ability to delegate. You report to restaurant manager/owner and have the opportunity to hire, train, cross-train the kitchen staff. The job requires 50 hours per week including weekends. Hours of operation will be 6:30am until 2:30pm Monday through Friday and 7am until 3pm Saturday and Sunday.

Responsibilities - Order supplies, food and ingredients. Hire and train kitchen staff and cross-train. Scheduling of staff to ensure enough works to meet sales demands as well as manage labor to budget. Maintain agreed upon inventory levels and complete weekly inventory. Assist with menu changes based on seasonal availability. Respond personally to guest questions and complaints.
